Today when I dropped the kids off at school I stopped to chat with WA's teacher, Ms. M. Ms. M happened to be putting up the kids newest art project, so I paused to check it out. The project consisted of each child creating their own likeness using construction paper, yarn, stickers and other craftsy things. I loved that they were gender and racially realistic (with girls having clips and bows and non-anglo kids having brown skin. WA actually had a bow tie..which while not quite realistic, I can appreciate.). Along with these likenesses each kid documented their favorite color, their favorite food and their favorite activity. Well, my son reported that his favorite color is red, true; that his favorite activity is playing with IA, debatable (but I'll take it); and that his favorite food is veggies. Ha! SOOOOO not true. Laughably not true. In fact I guffawed when I read it (and got a funny look from Ms. M). It's great to know that WA thinks veggies should be his favorite food, but it just ain't so. Chicken, ice cream or oranges, maybe...but veggies, nope.
My other favorite item was a friend of WA's who reported that his favorite color was pink. Yeah boy, that's right! Rock the pink.
